I listened to a friend on New Year's Eve
He likes to arrive at the office
Early each day
To get paperwork out of the way
Before making rounds and seeing patients

In bed by nine,
The alarm clock summons him
At three because he's a morning person
I wonder today....on this day of resolutions
About the driving force behind this man

He must love his family....and his patients
He must realize the folly of wasting time on Letterman and Leno
He must know he still can enjoy Sundays
And Tebow

Today, as we turn the page to a new year
I'm going to keep the morning man in mind
It won't mean getting up at three
Because God knows that isn't me

When feeling too tired to exercise....
I'll close my eyes and picture Doctor Jim....
Imagine how hard that three a.m. is for him
And get my lazy bones to the gym.
