They are gifts
special and wonderful
like our favorite birthday presents
or cherished Christmas surprises
tucked under the tree
Yes, truly, they are gifts
sent into our lives at just the right time
to teach us about love and loyalty....
kindness and gentleness....
faithfulness and trust

They lift our spirits
after tough days at work....
teach us to play when
we're tempted to pout
and remind us with loving eyes
and wagging tails
that all is good

We are blessed to have these faithful friends...
these spirit filled companions
that complete our families
and enrich our days

When they leave us
they leave a hole in our hearts
that takes time to heal
Fortunate are we that
they also leave us with
memories to last forever

Lasting reminders about love....and trust,
gentleness and playfulness....
kindness and caring
May we be mindful always
of how special they made us feel....
how our love....shared with them,
will live forever.

This poem is about Molly---the sweetest golden retriever. Molly brought much joy to all who knew her.  She will be forever missed.
