Job Qualifications |
|
A Pediatric Nurse is a registered nurse who has obtained either
an Associates, Diploma or Bachelor's Degree and specializes in care of children.
After becoming a licensed RN, most nurses intern at a hospital
in the pediatrics department for one year and then become certified as a
pediatric nurse by passing the Certified Pediatric Nurse exam. See types of
certification below. The clinical setting of employment will dictate what other
credentials are required. For example, most nurses are required to obtain their
CPR certification (BCLS and ACLS) but pediatric nurses must also be certified
with PALS (Pediatric Advance Life Support) because of their pediatric
environment. Also some jobs may required a certain amount of
clinical experience, while others are willing to train you. |
