Obstetrics nurses specialize in the care of pregnant women and
newborn infants. They help doctors provide care for pregnant women and assist
them in the delivery of newborns.
Common duties for obstetrics nurses include:
•Prepping patients for delivery
•Preparing delivery rooms
•Sterilizing and preparing instruments
•Caring for infants & Mothers immediately after birth
•Explaining after-birth care to new parents
•Emergency care of newborns & mothers when complications arise.
They often work in the labor and delivery department in
hospitals, health clinics or doctors' offices. |

-RN, LPN or LVN licensed nurse. -Good
communication, assessment, and clinical skills necessary to care for patients
during labor and delivery. |
