The main purpose of a nursing instructor is to prepare aspiring nurses for their careers.
Nurse Educator duties and role include:
• Educate students in classroom & practice setting.
• Administers tests and examinations.
• Develops & implements course outlines.
• Evaluates continuing education programs.
• Evaluates student performance.
• Guide students through the learning process.
• Prepare and mentor current and future nurses.
• Acts as a mentor or counselor to nursing students.

Job Qualifications |
|
Job requirements vary from state to state, and
school to school. Here
are the basics:
-Registered Nurse/RN education: Depending on the type of nursing
program either an ASN, BSN, MSN or DSN. Most programs require a Master's
Degree or Doctorate.
-Current RN license.
-Minimum of one year of medical/surgical experience in order to teach.
-Advanced education, including advanced clinical training in a health care specialty
(ie: Psychiatric Nursing, ER Nursing, Neonatal Nursing, etc)

Nurse Educator Certifications |
|
Certified Nurse Educator (CNE):
The mission of the Academic Nurse Educator Certification Program is to recognize excellence in the advanced specialty role of the academic nurse educator.
Nurse Educator certification is granted for a period of five (5)
years at which time the certificant must either retake and pass the
Certification Examination or meet current continuing education and recertification requirements.
