Job Description |
|
Hospice and Palliative Nurses essentially provide the same type of nursing care. The main difference between the two groups is the practice setting they use: Hospice nurses generally work out of the patients home versus the Palliative Care nurse who tends to work in a hospital type setting.
Both provide "end-of-life" nursing care and pain relief to patients in their final stages of life.
This allows patients to avoid unneeded and painful test & exams and allows them to
spend more meaningful time with their family and loved ones. |

Job Qualifications |
|
NPs, RNs, LPNs, LVNs and CNAs work in both fields. You
must have 2 years of hospice or palliative clinical experience to sit for
certification testing. |

Certifications |
|
There are 5 types of certifications issued by the
NBCHPNŽ depending on your job role:
Advanced Practice Nurse, Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse,
Nursing Assistant or Administrator. |
