Job Description

 

A flight nurse provides comprehensive nursing care for all types of patients during aeromedical evacuation and airlift flights. They are highly trained RNs with skills of an ICU nurse, ER nurse and CCU (critical care) nurse.

Flight nurses are employed in air rescue operations, care-flight ambulances and air evacuation services.

     

Job Qualifications

 

Experience in critical care or emergency department nursing (adult and pediatric experience).

     

Certifications

 

Most Jobs prefer one or more of the following certifications: CPR, ACLS, and PALS, TNS or TNCC.

   

Critical Care Nurse (CCRN), Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) or Certified Flight Nurse (CFRN).
