What is Midwifery?
Midwifery is a health care profession in which providers offer
care to women with uncomplicated pregnancies during labour, birth and the
postpartum period. They also care for the newborn and assist the mother with
breastfeeding.
In addition to assisting with the birthing process, midwives also specialize in
primary health care for women of all ages, including pap smears, breast exams,
physicals, fertility counseling, and family planning.
